  • In-House Lawyer

We’re on a mission to help the rural and regional areas of our country be viable places to live and work by ensuring a flow of capital for business creation and growth. We have ambitious growth plans, and you will be instrumental to our success.

    We have a brilliant new opportunity to join us as a part-time In-House Lawyer working 3 days a week, with the flexibility to increase hours if required. We offer hybrid working.

    This would suit you if you have at least three years post qualification commercial legal experience.  It is essential that you have experience in commercial property transactions and/or property finance.  It is also essential that you can adapt to working in a small business and act autonomously.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Commercial/Intellectual Property:

    • Ensure protection of Company Intellectual Property
    • Support HR with legal support
    • Review commercial contracts for the business and maintain contracts database
    • Update the Terms and Conditions
    • Coordinate any litigation work for the Company
    • Ensure the Company complies with its legal obligations including in relation to data protection.

     

    Security Work:

    • Advise the Credit Committee on legal issues
    • Support the Loan Servicing Team with any legal enquiries
    • Support the onboarding of new Law Firms and Valuers to our Panels and ensure that terms of engagement are kept updated, including PI cover
    • Co-ordinate the development of our Security Documentation and Offer Letters
    • Support the redemption process in relation to any legal documentation
    • Managing other legal aspects of the loan book
    • Providing practical and legal input to improve internal loan and credit processes
    • Support changes to the borrowing process/security documents as a result of new products and other significant commercial changes
    • Supporting the Arrears and Defaults team with any legal queries

     

    Company Secretarial work:

    • To provide Company Secretary support services including the provision of draft board minutes
    • Ensure compliance with Companies House returns for Group companies
    • Liaise with Computershare regarding the maintenance of shareholder register
    • Process share transfers
    • Process new issue of shares and/or share options

     

    Company Property:

    • Act on the lease negotiations and contract review for any Company property
