MEET THE FOLKS: Lynn Pett, Relationship Manager

We’re a friendly bunch at FOLK2FOLK and we love seeing the positive and life changing impact finance can have.  We get to know our customers so we thought you might like to know a bit about us too. Over to you Lynn…

I grew up in a small village between Holsworthy and Launceston. It’s an Estate village and my Dad farmed there. I went to school in Launceston and started working for Barclays in Launceston at the tender age of 16. It was 29 years and two children later that I decided it was time for me to move on from Barclays. My last position was that of Premier Relationship Manager which I loved – being able to get to know my clients better was a real joy.

I joined FOLK2FOLK nearly seven years ago, when the company had only been going for 18 months. Back then there were a lot of people who had not heard of us and I’d get asked ‘is it something to do with music’ quite a lot! I have had several different roles within the company, starting out as Business Development, particularly helping our agency in Crediton. It was a case of spreading the word about what we did and who we could help. I then became the Launceston Branch Manager, dealing mainly with investors. I’m now a Relationship Manager dealing with borrowers and brokers, supporting them through applying for a loan.

I really enjoy my job and knowing that I can have a conversation with someone and be able to tell them that we should be able to help them.  Seeing the case through to them receiving the funds (often in less than a month) is truly satisfying. Often, borrowers have already tried their bank and don’t know where to turn next. They are genuinely relieved that we are able to help them and when they find out how simple the process is, they are very impressed.

I love the fact that borrowers come back to us for their next project as they like the way we work. Sometimes borrowers go on to become investors which feels like the ultimate vote of confidence!

My husband and I have now moved back to the village where I was born. We bought the chapel we were married in and recently completed converting it into our home! We are still working on the garden and now have a sprocker puppy who tries to help us by digging up all the plants we have just planted!
